What goes through your head in the split second before the starting gun – and in the moments before crossing the finish line? How do you come back after an injury, when your body gives out and everything hurts? «St.art» draws on the lives of elite athletes to explore dedication and doubt, euphoria and exhaustion, failure and perseverance – and the inner drive that keeps them going.
«St.art» evokes both competition and new beginnings. Read as «Saint Art», it alludes to the sacred origins of the Olympic Games. The Czech company Cirk La Putyka presents a visually striking circus show that brings together the worlds of art and sport in unexpected ways.
Contemporary, with outstanding acrobatics and powerful imagery, «St.art» moves between the vulnerable intimacy of a changing roomand the overwhelming intensity of a stadium. For this pro duction, the company worked closely with professional athletes. The result is a circus piece that is as physically dynamic as it is reflective – about strength and vulnerability, for audiences of all ages.
