Die Kunst der Demokratie

Kulturinstitutionen als gesellschaftliche Akteure

Art fosters empathy, strengthens identity, creates spaces for encounter, and explores possible futures. We need all of this. Together with the Stiftung Team Ensemble, we invite experts to reflect on the potential of art and culture to strengthen democratic resilience.

Cultural institutions are unique places. People from very different backgrounds come together to experience art. But is that all there is? In recent years, expectations regarding their role in addressing social issues have increased, while institutions themselves are also expanding their understanding of the role they can play beyond the production and/or presentation of art.

The Zürcher Theater Spektakel, too, is more than a platform for dance and theatre – it is also a public place within the city. Together with other international institutions, we discuss the potential of cultural institutions for society, democracy and transformation.
