The sci-fi performance «Galactic Crush 2: Into The Cold» by Stéphanie Kayal and Abed Kobeissy combines contemporary dance, live music and multimedia storytelling in a satirical parable about displacement, war and responsibility. Two failed heroes leave their devastated home city of Beirut in a makeshift spaceship, searching the universe for hope and refuge. Between black humour and profound weariness, the performance raises existential questions about guilt, solidarity and whether, in times of violence, it is possible to escape at all.

Leave or stay? This question is at the heart of «Galactic Crush 2: Into the Cold» and is anything but abstract. While war, displacement and destruction shatter entire realities of life in Lebanon, two failed heroes choose to flee. In a self-built intergalactic spaceship, they set off towards an unknown galaxy – in search of hope and another life. But what does it mean to leave while others are dying trying to defend their homeland?
In the first part of their science-fiction saga, choreographer Stephanie Kayal and musician Abed Kobeissy already created a satirical parable of their home city Beirut. In «Galactic Crush 2: Into the Cold», they are left with departure into the unknown as the only option. With a sharp eye and great poetic sensitivity, the two artists turn their attention to their fictional alter egos, questioning the ethical dimensions of escape, survival and responsibility.
Contemporary dance, live music and bedtime storytelling come together in a multimedia performance oscillating between black humour and deep fatigue. Humour serves as both shield and survival strategy. Stranded in the cold darkness of space, the two protagonists await their fate – together with an audience confronted with questions for which there are no easy answers.
