SOLIDARITY!
BaselFor children and families
Together! Three people on stage: dancers Rebecca Weingartner and Raul Martinez and musician Nello Novela. Their biographiesare as different as their migration stories – and they have all experienced the feeling of not belonging.
In «EQUALITY!», her previous dance piece for a young audience, choreographer Rebecca Weingartner attempted to overcome restrictive ideas and inequalities between the sexes. «SOLIDARITY!», however, is about diversity. How can we come together despite our differences? How can we create spaces in which boundaries no longer play a role? How can we form a community that sees diversity not as a threat, but as an enrichment? In «SOLIDARITY!», the three artists show what this could look like – and how much fun it can be. They encourage each other to break out of their comfort zones: the musician has a go at dancing, the dancers make music and sing. But to do so, they not only need courage, but also support – from each other and from the audience. The result is a wonderful temporary community on stage, a enthusiastic celebration of solidarity in which all can feelwelcome – no matter how different they are. (hd)
Simple words
This dance piece is a call for «solidarity».
Boundaries are overcome
Everyone dares to try something new:
The musician dances, the dancers sing.
If someone can't do something on their own, the audience helps out.
This creates a wonderful community.
Everyone can feel welcome here.
No matter how different they are.
