Nicolas Fattouh

Living with a piece of furniture

Beirut, Montreal

In a living room inhabited by the ghostly presence of his fam- ily members, the young filmmaker Nicolas Fattouh tells his anecdotes while preparing tabbouleh. In «Living with a piece of furniture», he uses video animation to bring his grandfather to life. At the same time, a comedic story unfolds that not only honours his beloved grandfather’s past, but also uncovers many a village gossip and family secret. Two narrative strands overlap in this hybrid perfor- mance. Which one will the audience be more likely to follow? (sst)
