Violenza 2025
Amsterdam, Brussels, ZurichThey are angry, disappointed and becoming radicalised: young men rejecting liberal democracy and turning towards right-wing ideologies. «Violenza 2025» is the result of intensive research by three young theatre makers into far-right circles. Five actors bring to the stage what usually circulates in digital filter bubbles, chat groups and forums: hate, anti-feminist resentment, authoritarian longings and fantasies of violence. This new form of fascism does not come in combat boots, but appears young, confident and seemingly relatable. A provocative and unsettling theatre performance about the growing influence of far-right ideologies and the dangers they pose to an open society.

Five young men step onto the stage. They speak about family, origins and values; they seem relatable – and before you realise it, the nostalgic tone turns into a declaration of war on liberal society. This new form of fascism does not present itself in combat boots. It comes with an effortless coolness, shifting the boundaries of what can be said with an almost paralysing ease.
«Violenza 2025» vividly reveals what is taking shape within the filter bubbles of the manosphere and how far-right ideologies are increasingly making their way onto the streets and into parliaments. The fears, frustrations and aggression of young men are politically instrumentalized. Their ways of thinking and narratives are laid bare with relentless clarity – unsettling and chal-lenging preciselybecause the performance reveals how these mechanisms operate and exert their influence. Between aggression and community, between the cult of the body and ideology, the aesthetics of the New Right take shape. Is this still a performance – or is this real? The young right-wingers train and toughen their bare bodies, celebrate their «masculinity» and, to the sounds of Gigi D’Agostino’s «L’Amour Toujours», proclaim a new golden age.
«Violenza 2025» is both a chilling vision and an urgent warning: what happens when right-wing violence takes hold in the minds and bodies of the youngest among us?

This provocative theatre piece is about young men who are angry and disappointed. Three young theatre makers collected information from far-right groups on the internet to create this piece. These groups reject democracy. On stage is shown what is often found online: open hatred towards other people, hostility towards women and gender equality, thoughts about violence, and the desire for a strong state.
The piece shows that far-right extremism often looks different today than it did in the past. Its supporters often appear young, confident and modern. This can make their ideas attractive to others. The theatre piece shows why far-right ideas can be dangerous for an open and democratic society.
