Mariia&Magdalyna

human?..

Kyjiw

«A time to weep, and a time to laugh» – The performance duo Mariia&Magdalyna from Kyiv have been oscillating between these emotional extremes since the escalation of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine. In their performance, they allow the audience to participate in personal thoughts that arose in an air raid shelter during the first months of the Russian invasion. To the haunting sound of musician Khrystyna Kirik, they recite their own diary entries and passages from the Bible. Between theatrical liturgy and furious accusation, the question arises again and again: how does one remain «human?..» in this war? (sst)
